About Denzel Curry

Denzel Curry is an American rapper who was born and raised in Carol City, Florida. He is an exceptionally talented performer who actually got his first taste of music early in life when he began rapping in the sixth grade. And in fact, he started his first mixtape in 2011 at around the age of 16.

But this doesn’t come as a surprise to anyone who’s followed his career. As Curry often challenged others to rap battles when he joined a local Boys & Girls Clubs of America chapter. 

Early Career (2011-2012)

But stepping back for a moment, after his first mixtape, Curry was discovered by SpaceGhstPurrp, who was a major influence on Curry’s work. His first mixtape was featured on Purrp’s social media accounts giving him early local recognition and fame. It also led to Curry joining Purrp’s collective hip hop group, Raider Klan.

While with Raider Klan, Curry went on to release his second and third mixtapes, which both caught the attention of fellow rappers. Especially as the young artist honed his talents and showed more of his influences, including how Tupac Shakur influenced his third mixtape.

Then in late 2012, Curry met up with his manager Mark Maturah, who helped him release his first studio single, “Dark & Violent” to soundcloud.

Early in 2022, Curry released a trailer for his fifth studio album, Melt My Eyez See Your Future on YouTube. It was revealed that the album would contain appearances by fellow artists: T-Pain, 6lack, Slowthai, Rico Nasty, J.I.D, and Thundercat, among others. It also looks like the album will feature a more mature sound compared to his previous work suggesting how the music changed along with the artist. Singles from the upcoming album were later released and became fast hits with fans and critics.
